Hello,
I have a 2000 Centruy. Within the past week I have a continuous clicking noise coming from the ignition column area. It is pretty constant but I have noticed that it does stop while I am applying the brakes. It is definitely coming from inside the vehicle and the drivers area. I think I can "feel" the clicking when I put my hand on the top of the column. Anyone have any ideas? The only thing I have been able to locate with clicking involves the car not starting. My car operated fine other than the annoying clicking. Thanks!

If the car develops any starting or stalling while turning on a turn signal issues it would mean the ignition switch is bad. I've replaced the ignition switch on a 98' Regal due to no-start and dying when using turn signal. Didn't wanna pay for a new switch so I took one out of a Century and re-wired a couple wires.

Do you notice the dash lights getting dimmer or brighter when you hear this click ?

Ill try and get a video later today. There has been no issue with performance of the car that I have noticed(No stalling or starting problems). As far as I can tell the lights have not dimmed/got brighter

Well fortunately for me it just randomly stopped. Not sure what it was but it no longer is an issue! Thanks anyway

Aigh!

That's a helluva Gremlin in there. One that goes to sleep when you hit the brakes !!!

If no one chimes in who had that or similar problem, you'll have to do the detective work yourself. It's not very hard to take the column plastics and under dash cover off. But it's not as cozy as a desk job !
